Universal Orlando has let slide some information about their flagship attraction. The Krakatau Aqua Coaster features an Linear Induction Motor lift hill to pull riders upwards just to send them splashing back down. While there’s similar attraction in Orlando that’s the same idea, this takes it to the next level.

Rather than being propelled by water like most other “water coasters” this one is pulled up the hill with electromagnets. If you’ve even been on Revenge of the Mummy or the TTA PeopleMover at Magic Kingdom then you’ve experienced LIM technology.

TapuTapu Wearable

The TapuTapu is the other piece of big news released this week. The wearable device allows guests to enter a virtual queue for the attractions at Volcano Bay. No more waiting in line standing around with tube while you’re baking in the sun. Just tap your TapuTapu and you’ll get a return time to come back. It’s that easy.

Outside of the virtual queue guests can also interact with park scenery and trigger events with their device. One cool moment shared by Universal is this cave in the lazy river that glows when someone triggers it with their TapuTapu.

Volcano Bay Lazy River

As you can see Universal has been thinking about how to make a water park more enjoyable. Cutting lines out of the equation already has us looking forward to 2017. Adding a touch of personality and interactive sets to the park will take water parks to the next level.
