This year marks the 20th anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World. The festivities kick off on April 22, 2018 with an appearance by Imagineer Joe Rohde where he’ll be signing special edition prints of his own artwork. Party for the Planet will run for two weeks after the initial kickoff on the park’s anniversary.
Rohde will be appearing during the first day of Party for the Planet from 1-4pm at Discovery Trading Company. He’s responsible for much of the design at Animal Kingdom as well as Aulani, Pandora, and the Animal Kingdom Lodge. He was also behind the Adventurer’s Club while it existed in Pleasure Island (KUNGALOOSH!).
Rafiki’s Planet Watch will be the main focus during Party for the Planet where backstage tours will take place throughout the event. Guests can get an inside look at how Disney promotes conservation as well as learn about animal nutrition and even visit the veterinary hospital.
During the event fans of UP! can experience the new Explorers Meet UP! A Great Bird Adventure show once it opens on the 22nd of April. The Wilderness Explorer program will also be featuring a limited edition badge that you can obtain on your Wilderness Explorer adventure throughout the park.
At the Tiffins restaurant guests can also book a themed dinner that will be hosted by different animal experts. Tiffins Talks will be able to be booked soon through the Walt Disney World website. There will be six different Tiffins Talks throughout the two week event.
Along with the new experiences will be special photo opportunities inside the park where guests can step into an oversized picture frame that celebrates 20 years of animal conservation and Disney’s Animal Kingdom itself.
