Each year in the fall guests look forward to enjoying the Magic Kingdom in costume. People dress up and their favorite superheroes, Disney characters, and even attractions. This past year Disney released an updated costume policy for adults. The new security screening protocol and costume policy left a lot of questions unanswered.

The Boo-to-You Parade, trick-or-treating, and Happy HalloWishes will remain. The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular will also be returning due to the response received last year.

The dates for this year’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party are:

  • September – 2, 8, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 29, 30
  • October – 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 23, 25, 27, 28, 30, 31

The gist of the updated costume policy is:

While costumed attire may be worn, guests ages 14 and older are strongly discouraged from wearing layered costumes or costume props that surround the entire body as they may be subject to additional security screening. Additionally, costumes may not contain any weapons that resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.

It’s hard to tell how this will change entry to this year’s events. But expect to wait in a long line for security if your costume is somewhat elaborate.
