Update: We now have confirmation that this will also be deployed in Disneyland. FastPass functionality in some capacity will be coming to the west coast through the new My Disney Experience app. It will be an extension of the current paper FastPass system, just done digitally.

Information has come our way about what Disney is planning with the roll out of the next MagicBand. Details of what the next Magicband will offer are still under wraps. A new design that is more comfortable is what’s expected.

The next generation wearable will be released next month. The distribution will happen as existing stock of the current MagicBand depletes. International guests will be the last to receive the new MagicBand.

MagicBand 2 will be available to buy in select Walt Disney World shops on launch day. Impatient guests who don’t have the new MagicBand will be able to buy one at full price. Annual Passholders will be getting the new band if their band order is placed after the launch.

MDE App Updates

Before the debut of the next MagicBand we can expect an update to the My Disney Experience app. The app will take on the form of the Disneyland app in design and functionality. Many of the features that are available in the Disneyland app will be carried over. The point of the new application is to make it easier for guests to see where they are and what things they can do around them. FastPass+ and other reservations will remain a big part of the app.

We could receive no confirmation if FastPass+ would be coming to Disneyland.
