The inevitable has happened, may the beloved Bill Paxton and Hellen Hunt attraction rest in the Universal Studios Hall of Fame.
Twister was opened in 1998 and replaced Ghostbusters Spooktacular which closed for good in 1996. Twister… Ride It Out as it was formally known was actually not a ride. It was a special effects show that put guests into a drive-in movie scene that takes place during the 1997 film, Twister. The attraction was hosted by Bill Paxton and Hellen Hunt who were both stars of the film.
Race through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon (details) is set to debut in 2017 and replace the special effects show with an actual ride. Not much is known about the ride system or whether the new attraction will use any part of the existing Twister building. It’s described as a ride that uses 3D scenes and a tour through New York hosted by the attraction’s namesake.
